# Audit events

> Inspect organization activity and resource changes.

The Audit API provides read-only, organization-scoped activity records. A record can include an event ID, actor, action, target resource, metadata, and occurrence timestamp.

Use a credential with `audit:read`:

```

The default `limit` is 50 and `offset` is 0. Valid limits are 1–100.

You can filter by `action`, `actor_type`, `actor_id`, `target_type`, `target_id`, `occurred_from`, and `occurred_before`. The currently accepted actor types are `user` and `organization_token`.

Audit records are not editable through the public API. For automatic storage lifetime controls, see [Retention policies](/guides/security/retention-policies).
